Devi, la intocable
Devi, la intocable

Devi la intocable tells the true story of a woman and her family in rural India. The novel begins with Devi's parents' wedding, the rituals, the bride leaving with a stranger, and following master Babashed who struggles to ban untouchability and the conversion to Buddhism to survive hunger and scorn.

Devi describes her life as a constant struggle between the tyrany of horror and tradition and her own will to receive education, to be able to be free of ties, abuse of men and the passivit of a mother who considers that her daughter has given into modernity and western values.
